You’ve Been Solving the Wrong Problem All Along AND

It’s Not Your Lack of Effort...

It’s the Hidden Obstacles You Were Never Taught to See.

The day my baseball dreams crumbled wasn’t marked by a major event, but by a series of quiet, unnoticed moments. I was just a kid, but I had talent—a batting average that surpassed even some of the greats in the sport. At ten years old, I was hitting over half the balls pitched to me. I was on a trajectory that seemed destined for the major leagues. I was at the top of my game, both in skill and in confidence.

But then, seemingly out of nowhere, everything changed. As I stepped up to the plate for the first game of the next season, I felt the familiar weight of the bat in my hands, the roar of the crowd, and the anticipation of the pitch.
I swung—and missed. It happened again, and again, and again. My batting average plummeted to zero. I went from hero to zero, and no one, including myself, could understand why.

How does that happen? How do you go from being unstoppable to sitting on the bench, watching the game you once dominated slip through your fingers? I felt like a complete failure,
but it turns out it wasn't my fault at all!

The answers seemed obvious at first—attitude, motivation, technique. Everyone around me had an opinion: “Kevin, just focus!” “Get your head in the game!” “You need to want it more!” My coaches, my teammates, even my parents—all of them believed that the problem was with me. And soon, I began to believe it too. I pushed myself harder, I trained more, I tried to adjust my swing, my mindset, my everything. But no matter what I did, nothing changed. I was stuck in a cycle of frustration, self-doubt, and failure.

It wasn’t until two weeks after my last game, when I had officially given up on baseball, that I learned the truth. I couldn’t see the ball. Literally. A routine eye exam revealed that my vision was so poor that without glasses, I had no chance of succeeding at the sport I loved. The real problem had nothing to do with my attitude, motivation, or technique—it was something entirely outside of my control, something that no amount of self-criticism or effort could fix on its own.

In the book we'll review how to overcome this in your own life, business, organization or wherever else you feel you have an unresolved problem or challenge, sign up to be notified of the release.
